An eccentric exponent of the second generation of Florentine Mannerists, Boscoli demonstrates the emphasis on figurative draftsmanship characteristic of that era. Dating from a fairly early period, this study from a wax mannequin geometricizes and abstracts the precisely analyzed forms. Heir to Pontormo' s Mannerism, and influenced by Federico Barocci's vibrant light effects, Boscoli was a stylistically pivotal figure between the Renaissance and the Baroque.
