Cookie Policy

DiscoverArt uses a small number of first-party cookies that make the Service work, plus two analytics tools that show us how the site is really used. We don’t use advertising cookies, we don’t build a picture of you across other websites, and we don’t sell what we collect.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They let a site remember things between visits — like the fact that you’re signed in, or that you’ve already taught the feed your taste.

2. The cookies we set

  • da_at and da_rt — keep you signed in to your account (secure, httpOnly session tokens). da_at lasts about an hour and refreshes automatically; da_rt lasts up to 90 days.
  • da_profile — remembers your anonymous taste profile, so the feed can learn your eye even before you create an account, and so your gallery is still yours when you return.
  • da_trained — a simple flag noting you’ve completed the taste filter, so we can take you straight to your feed instead of the welcome page.

These four are first-party — set by discoverart.com and readable by no one else — and functional: they exist to run the Service, not to profile you across the web.

3. Analytics and session replay

We also use two third-party analytics tools, FullStory and Contentsquare (Hotjar), to understand how people actually move through DiscoverArt: which pages hold attention, where people click and scroll, and where the experience breaks or confuses. It’s how a very small team finds the problems it can’t see from the code alone.

  • These tools set their own cookies and record your interactions with our pages — the pages you view, clicks, scrolling, and similar activity.
  • They are product-analytics tools, not advertising tools. We don’t use them to target ads at you, we don’t use them to follow you onto other websites, and we don’t sell what they collect.
  • They load only on the live site at discoverart.com — never in development or preview.

If you’d rather not be recorded, blocking third-party scripts or cookies in your browser settings — or using a content blocker — will stop them, and the Service will still work.

4. What we don’t use

  • No advertising or ad-targeting cookies.
  • No cross-site advertising networks building a profile of you as you browse elsewhere.
  • We don’t sell or rent anything a cookie collects.

5. Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies in your browser’s settings at any time. If you do, a few things will stop working: you’ll be signed out, and the feed won’t remember your taste between visits (it lives in the da_profile cookie until you create an account).

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves, and we’ll post updates here with a new "last updated" date.
