Woman and Screen, which shows Antoinette Arnoud in the studio, is a close-up, frontal view. She takes up almost half of the space. This zoom effect, very common in the work of Edgar Degas, is unusual for Matisse. Woman and Screen also recalls some of Edouard Vuillard's domestic scenes.
