This work reveals Renoir's attention to the color relationships between figure and landscape. A woman with a straw hat relaxes in a lush, natural setting shown in predominantly gold, green, and red colors; these same tones also appear throughout the figure's flesh and drapery. The effect is a merging of forms, of woman with nature.
