This quiet street scene depicts the Place du Tertre in the Paris neighborhood of Montmartre. We can determine the specific place based on the view of the Basilica of Sacré Coeur in the background—it is the white dome seen behind the trees to the left of center. The neighborhood of Montmartre has a rich artistic history; many artists, including Maurice Utrillo, lived and worked there during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
