FROM THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO’S CATALOG

Text printed on reverse of stereocard: The material used in casting this Statue is made principally of the guns captured by General Jackson at Pensacola, and the four brass six-pounders at the base of the pedestal were captured by the Hero at the battle of New Orleans, in 1815. The entire height of the Statue and pedestal is sixteen feet, and the centre of gravity is so nicely calculated that the Statue maintains its position upon the hind legs of the horse. The entire cost was $30,000.
