FROM THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO’S CATALOG

For the subject of this work, della Bella chose the movements of soldiers toward and through a town, which is recognizable as Arras. He dedicated the work to Henry du Plesseys, Count of Roche-Guyon, whose coat of arms appears in the first and second plates.
