FROM THE CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF ART’S CATALOG

Ingres and Théodore Chassériau executed these lithographs to reproduce and publicize important pictures they had previously painted. However, the lithographs also represent experimentation with an unfamiliar medium, but both artists' assured draftsmanship make the prints successful.
