FROM THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO’S CATALOG

This is one of a group of ten tureens of differing size said to have been made for a Prince de Rohan in about 1725. These tureens are among the first to have been made in silver or porcelain, as tureens did not become an essential element in table services until the next decade.
