FROM THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO’S CATALOG

Abraham Bosse was an important engraver in seventeenth-century France. Although Graff was known above all for his portraits, this image must have had special significance for him, since he was, like Bosse, a prolific printmaker.
