Followers of the Dutch Reformed theologian Jacobus Arminius, the Arminians clashed with Calvinists in the early 17th century, particularly after Prince Maurits of Orange systematically removed Arminians from positions of power. This popular print, or broadside, was produced on the occasion of the execution of the Arminian followers of Johan van Oldenbarnevelt, whose portrait is exhibited nearby.
