FROM THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO’S CATALOG

Due to ease of creating curved lines in Jacquard woven coverlets, it was common to include text in the designs of such textiles. The inscription on this coverlet includes the date the piece was made and the name of the person that it was woven for.
