The crisp forms and saturated colors of this small work are hallmarks of reverse painting on glass, a technique used by artist Angelo Pinto. Here, the artist depicts the Fall of Icarus, an ancient Greek myth about a boy who fell to his death after the sun melted the beeswax on the feather wings made by his father. In Pinto's version, Daedalus stands in the foreground and pleads with his son not to fly too close to the sun, advice that comes too late for the ill-fated Icarus.
